Barbara Louise Buchanan was born November 11, 1946 in Roswell, NM to Arlen and Mammie (Treat) Green. She passed away January 31, 2020 in Davenport at the age of 73.
Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City raised in the Pentecostal Faith. She met James Buchanan in Springdale, AR at a work camp where people summered while working through harvest season. They later married on June 3, 1961 and raised four children together. Barbara settled in Lincoln County where she enjoyed the past 30 years. She had many stories to share with her grandchildren and other family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Arlen and Mammie Green; son, David Buchanan; siblings, Vernon Green, Charles Green, Richard Green, Arlene Hattenhauer, Irene Fouts; granddaughter, Brittney; and great-grandson, Matthew. Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, James Buchanan of the home; children, Debbie Chaney and husband Scott of Lawton, Connie Buchanan of Kentucky, Allen Buchanan and wife Becky of Wellston; (7) grandchildren; (10) great-grandchildren; siblings, Polly Smith and husband John of Norman, Geneva Shannon of OKC, Carolyn Powell and husband Ron of MWC, Mary Hattfield and husband Bo of Chandler, Tommy Green of Luther; along with other family and friends.
Barbara’s family will receive friends for a visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Lehman Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend David Mitchell with interment following in the Davenport Cemetery. Her family will gather for a lunch following the service at the Davenport Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
