Steve was born on May 12, 1954 in Muncie Indiana, the son of Dallas and Alice Bruce. He married Cis Spires on February 19, 2000 in Danville, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Cis Bruce; two daughters, Holly Bruce (Jesse Lopez) and Marjorie Bruce (Dennis Hernandez II); four step children, Chasity Knapp, Jill Perez, Crystal (Tylre) Ball and Katy Pelszynski (Percy Primer); one brother, Wayne Bruce; two sisters, Betty (Ray) Johnson and Barbara (Russel) Rose; one niece, Jody (Steve) Johnson; four nephews, Pete (Dawn) Bruce, Wayne Bruce, Jeff Bruce and Keith Hughes and twelve grandkids, Cole Cox, Courtney Cox, Caydin Spires, Hayven Torres, Camdin Spires, Evan Perez, Olivia Scaggs, Jonathan Primer, Jai'Lyn Brannin, Jazlyn Brannin, Joslynn Brannin, and Dennis Hernandez III.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one step son, Chad Spires.
Steve was a mechanic and truck driver most of his life. He enjoyed NASCAR, cooking on the grill, working on cars, and being in his backyard, spending time with family.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
