WOOSTER – G. Daniel Ackerman “Uncle Dan”, 82, of Wooster passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.

He was born September 2, 1937 in Wooster the son of Warren and Nina Lawrence Ackerman.

He retired from Rubbermaid after 29 years of service and had worked at the Wayne Co. Library after retirement. George was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and the Wayne County Cemetery Association.

George was a scholar of Wayne County history and genealogy, an avid book collector and also collected Fredericksburg Pottery. He was a writer of poetry and took pride in restoring veteran’s tombstones. He enjoyed biking and hiking with his nieces and nephews.

Surviving is a sister June Louttit of Wooster; a brother-in-law Robert Pritchett of Wooster; nieces and nephews Sue (Kevin) McLain, Cyndi (Lou) Czibor, Mike (Deb) Pritchett, Debra Ackerman, Don (Cheryl) Ackerman, Dennis Ackerman (Richard), Doug Ackerman (Jill), Rick (Linda) Louttit, Holly Louttit McMorrow; great-nieces and nephews Ashley Fries (Joe), Brandon Pritchett (Sarah), Emily (Marty) Flickinger, Travis Ackerman, Chad (Jill) Ackerman, Kiah Ackerman, Anna (Anders) Johansson, Rachel (Dan) Stoner, Molly (Terry) Long, Zoe Ackerman, Alexis (Mike) Miller, Deven McMorrow, Oliva Osborn; great-great nieces and nephews Laylah and Jackson, Heston, Case and Kinlee, Jacob and Merry, Daniel and Bri, Rowan, Madison and Jesse, Phoenix, Raegan, Harper and Coulter, and a special friend Kathy Hothem.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jean Pritchett, brother’s Donald and his wife Dorothea Ackerman and Dave Ackerman, a brother-in-law Richard Louttit and nephews Bobby and Paul Pritchett and a great-nephew Allen Schlesner.

Friends will be received 2 hours prior to the 1:00 p.m. service on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
