Edna May Hope Porter, 88 of Taylorville, died at 11:26 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center. Edna was born on May 11, 1931 in Providence, Rhode Island to Louis and Hope (Holbrook) Briggs. She married Alfred Porter on November 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death in October of 1997. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer, member of the Christian County Senior Citizens, bowled in several leagues, and was one of Charlie’s Angels Senior Tap Group (now Taylorville Tappers), as well as owning and operating several restaurants in Taylorville. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Taylorville.

She is survived by 3 sons: Wayne (Venesse) Porter; Alan Porter; Brian Porter; grandchildren: Stephanie (Rick) Bingham, Nichole Porter, Annie Crawford, Andrew (Jennifer) Porter, Katie Porter, Tim Simmons, Joshua Simmons, Kristina Simmons; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as countless friends made over the years. Along with her husband, Edna was preceded in death by her parents, son: Scott Porter, daughter: Gail Simmons; 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren: Craig & Michelle.

Edna’s family is hosting a memorial service to celebrate her life at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Church of the Nazarene, 300 South Shumway Street, Taylorville, with Pastor Bob Turner officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the chu
