James Walter Stockton

Mr. Stockton, age 94, of Temple, Georgia, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020.

He was born on December 26, 1925 in Georgia, to Bernie and Marie Stockton.

James was a true family man that taught his children to be prepared for anything and he was stern when he needed to be. Mr. Stockton was naturally a father figure to many children and loved them as his own. He was a friend to all, even though he was a “bullshitter.” Mr. Stockton found joy in his American Legion, karaoke, reading and crossword puzzles.

He served his country as a U.S. Marine and was present during the raising of the flags in Iwo Jima, Japan. He was honorably discharged after twenty years of dedicated service.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Sara Bennett Stockton; son, Douglas; daughter Marlene; brothers, Kelly, B.H., Dick and Bill; sisters, Shirley, Louise.

Mr. Stockton’s memory will be cherished by his children, Gail, David, Bobby and Rhonda; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Thursday, January 30th from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will held on Thursday, January 30th starting at 2:00 pm at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven’s Chapel.
