Modean attended school at Vanndale, and on July 31, 1948, she and Mr. Jack Edwards were united in marriage. Modean was a lifelong member of Sharpe’s Chapel Church of God. She loved her church and church family, and was a choir leader and children’s choir leader. Mrs. Edwards worked at Addison Shoe in Wynne, Rainfair in Forrest City, and as a personal caregiver. She enjoyed cooking for and caring for her family, sewing, and singing hymns and gospel songs. Modean was loved by all who knew her, and will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Totty; a brother, Paul Totty; a son, Harold Delane Edwards; a grandson, Richard Delane Edwards; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Yarbrough.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Jack Edwards of the home; two sons, Jimmy Edwards and wife, Nellie, and Wade Edwards and wife, Gail, all of Cherry Valley; a daughter, Glynis Headley and husband, Roy, of Cherry Valley; a daughter-in-law; Sue Edwards; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Brother J.P. Simms, and Brother James McElroy, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Akin Cemetery near the Pleasant Hill Community.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020.
