John Kelly McKee, 78, of Ovett passed away peacefully on January 30, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a Mason and was an Instructor at Jones Junior College teaching metal trades. He was a member of Tiger Creek Church, worked as a Machinist at Masonite and was skilled in Tool and Die making. He loved making things for others, coon hunting, racing pigeons, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At a young age he helped raise his younger brother, Harry. He thought of him as his own. He will be loved and missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Marcella Freeman McKee; wife, Maureen Lacy McKee; and sister, Caroline McKee.
He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Tice (Glen) of Ovett, and Alicia Hembree (Jim) of North Carolina; brothers, Robert “Bob” McKee, David Roy McKee (Sara) and Harry Waldrup (Pam); grandchildren, John Clayton Tice, Clifton Allen Tice, Kasidy BreAnne Waller, Megan Elizabeth Hembree, Jordan Danielle Smith, and James Cameron Hembree; great grandchildren, Lilly Ann Tice, Karsyn Zane Pitts, Korbyn Lace Waller, and Noah Darling Tice; beloved friend, Janet King, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Memory Chapel on Monday February 3, 2020 starting at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Scott Morris will officiate.
