He was born June 6, 1929, in McIntyre, Ohio, to Frank and Sara West. he was a 1947 graduate of Wayne High School, retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, and a Christian by faith,having grown up in Shaffer Chapel AME Church, in McIntyre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sara West; 3 brothers, 3 sisters; his first wife Ruth Ann West; one daughter, Deborah West; and three sons, Richard, Michael and Douglas West.
He was survived by his loving wife, Pauline Elizabeth (Liz) West of Steubenville, Oh; three sons, Elder Edward J. (Sonya) West Jr. of Dallas, Tx, Joshua West, of New Mexico, and Jason (Alyssa) West, of Steubenville. Five daughters, Roxie Miles Jones of Bridgeport, Oh, Sara (Greg) Turner of Weirton, Myra (Johnny) Toles of Fort Washington, Md, Diana (Robby) Mallas of Steubenville and Jessica West of North Dakota; many loving grandchildren, friends ,and relatives.
Calling hours were Wednesday from 9-11a.m. at the Vinson House of Mortuary, with services at 11 Wednesday at the funeral home, with Elder Edward J. West Jr. presiding.
Transitional services by the Vinson House of Mortuary with services entrusted there as well.
