He graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in 1986 and attended Shepherd University for three years. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mark retired from MCI as a correctional officer. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mark loved animals and over the years had several pets of his own. He also enjoyed teaching Hunter Safety classes for many years and was an avid Nascar fan.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his; aunt and uncle, Carole and Freddie Billmeyer; sister in law, Sharon Russell; cousins, Edwin Russell, III, Rebecca Huffer, Michael F. Billmeyer, James R. Canby, III, Todd A. Canby; nieces and nephews; a close friend, Conrad Burke; and Nikki, his nurse who provided great care. He also leaves behind his four legged companion, Cami.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John David Russell, Philip Michael Russell, and Ret. Col. Jay Stephen Russell; and aunts and uncles.
Memorial service at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, MD. Inurnment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
