Stephanie Theodosha Bates, of Skiatook, Oklahoma passed away January 27, 2020 in Glenpool, OK. Stephanie was born in Fairfax, Oklahoma January 21st, 1963. She moved to Skiatook as a child in 1970, graduating from Skiatook High School with the class of 1981. Stephanie married the love of her life Calvin A. Bates in 1982. They had two daughters, Gretchen Nicole in 1984, and Sarah Theodosha in 1987. Calvin lost his battle with Leukemia in 1988.

It was this loss that led Stephanie to get her nursing degree in 1993. She worked as a nurse in oncology and then as a hospice nurse for many years helping others increase their quality of life in the end. Later in life Stephanie went on to get her MSN, (Masters of Science in Nursing) Adult Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Oklahoma in 2008. She truly loved the work she was doing and her ability to care for people directly. Her sense of humor and caring nature made her a perfect fit in the medical field.

Stephanie had a tremendous love of family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. When she wasn’t spoiling her daughters or being Grammy to her grandkids, you could find her spending time with her parents and siblings. As much as she loved her family, her favorite pastime was rooting on the OU Sooners. She was a true sooner fan through and through. Boomer!

At the age of 57, only seven days after her birthday, Stephanie went to be with our Heavenly Father. Stephanie was the daughter of Richard “Dick” Thompson and Theodosha Thompson of Skiatook, OK. She is preceded in death by her husband and father. She leaves behind her mother Theda, her two daughters Gretchen and Sarah, three grandchildren Connor, Abigail, and Andrew Watson, as well as her two siblings Stacey Thompson, and Richard “Rich” Thompson. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews who were also very close to her.

Services for Stephanie will be held Saturday, February 1st, 10:00 am at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
