Lisa was born August 31, 1962 in Polk County, FL, a daughter of the late Dr. Michael E. Dam and the late Mary Paciotti Dam.

She and her family are members of Wingate Baptist Church and formerly attended First Baptist Church, Wadesboro. She graduated high school in Florida and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 and her Juris Doctor from the West Virginia School of Law in 1987. Following Law School, Lisa worked as a Law Clerk for the law firm, Sharpe and Buckner in Rockingham and later as attorney in private practice. In 1989, she accepted employment as an Assistant District Attorney in the 20A Prosecutorial District, Carroll Lowder, District Attorney. In 1998, she was appointed by the Governor to serve as a District Court Judge in the 20A Judicial District, which included, Anson Richmond, Union and Stanly counties. In 2009, Lisa was appointed to the position of Chief District Court Judge. She served this position honorably until 2014. When the districts were redrawn in 2015, she was switched to District 16A which added Scotland and Hoke counties. In 2016, she retired from the 16A Judicial District after devoting 18 years to the bench.

Surviving are her husband, Todd Thacker; her daughter, Caroline Thacker; her aunt, Pat Utrie, her puppies, Bruno and Ginger, her cat, Whodini who were her children too.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elisabeth East Thacker and her sister, Dr. Trudi M. Dam, DVM.

She enjoyed scrapbooking and that was largely done as a means of documenting memories with her daughter and their family times. Although her accomplishments in her career were great, she was most proud of being Caroline’s mom. She supported her in all she aspired to do and was certainly Caroline’s greatest fan. Her family is very grateful for the many acts of love and kindness shown to them during this time and it will never be forgotten.
