Linda Allison Gay, 78, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 1, 1942 in Lowndes County, Mississippi to the late Gordon and Martha Mozell Wharton Allison. She worked as a beautician for many years before going to nursing school and receiving her LPN license. Mrs. Gay was a retired nurse for the State of Georgia having last worked at a state facility in Duluth, Georgia. Outside of her love for the nursing profession, she also loved the great outdoors and enjoyed her time camping, fishing, gardening, and being with her pups. Mrs. Gay was a people person and loved to socialize with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Moss of Valdosta; her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Samantha Gay also of Valdosta; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Estelle and Art Akerson of San Antonio, Texas, Betty Allison Reid, and Wanda Allison Hawke and Ricky Hawke all of Unadilla, Georgia; her grandchildren, Justin Cowart, Katie Moss, Brittany Gay, Gregory Gay, and Tanya Williams all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Williams; son-in-law, Danny Moss; sister and brother-in-law, Rubey Nell and Austin Boyd, and two brothers, Robert O’Neal Allison and Stanley Gordon Allison.
A graveside service for Linda Allison Gay will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
