Clara Elizabeth McKey Matlock Jenkins, age 87, left this life on January 29, 2020 and is rejoicing in paradise with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Hall Cemetery in Thicket, Texas.

Liz was one of 17 children belonging to Daniel Jackson McKey and Lillie Mae Fisher McKey. She was born December 7, 1932 in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

She is preceded in death by husbands: Jacy Matlock (1970) and Warren Jenkins (2015) and in 2011, Liz endured the loss of her middle son, J.C. Matlock. Over the course of her many years she also lost 13 of her siblings.

Liz is survived by her children: Danny Matlock; David Matlock and wife, Sandy; Doyle Jenkins; Kenny Jenkins; and Kathy Brewer. Liz also leaves behind nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Liz had many passions in her earthly life, but none greater than that of helping her family, friends, and her church. She enjoyed fellowship and service to her community through her church, and she was always willing to help in times of need. She may have been small in stature, but she was mighty and a tower of strength to those whom she loved.

In recent years, Liz had the opportunity to travel with her son, David. According to Liz, these were some of the happiest days of her life. Even in her 80's she was still enjoying vacations to various places across the United States, including a trip to Disney World. She also jumped at the chance to go on a bear hunt in Maine with David, Sarah, and Jacob. Please see David for details. In short, David filled her remaining days with laughter and pleasure that is immeasurable.

The family, through faith, knows that Liz is no longer suffering, but is now enjoying eternal happiness. We find solace in Psalms 30:5 which states, "In his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." So, this is not goodbye, it is just a see you later.
