Charles Fred “Sonny“ McDowell, age 79, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Park Ridge Medical Center of Chattanooga. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Helen Couey McDowell, brothers: Leon and Arnold McDowell, sister: Shirley Newby.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years: Mildred “MiMi” McDowell of Decatur, sons and spouses: C.L. and Tammy McDowell of Birchwood, Ricky and Teresa McDowell of Athens, Aaron and Debbie McDowell of Athens, Walley and Dawn McDowell of Decatur, grandchildren: Blake, Jeremy, Hayden, Griffin, Seba McDowell, sisters: Patsy McKinney, Ella Goode, Dorthey Stokes, Edith Minnis, Nancy Rogers, special sister-n-law: Gussie Richesin, special friend: Lonzo Lamb, special niece: Sissy Hari, and several Nieces, Nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Bowers Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 31, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Cliff Waters officiating. With internment to follow in the McClellan Cemetery in Madisonville, TN. Serving as Pallbearers: John Crisp, Brian Caldwell, Tony Partin, Larry McBroon, Ed Walden, Gene McConkey.
