Deborah Ann "Debbie" Greene, 67, of Lordsburg, passed away Monday, January 28, 2020, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, after a brief illness.

Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lordsburg. Private interment will follow later at Mountain View Cemetery in Lordsburg. Following the services Saturday, a community luncheon will be held at the Lordsburg Elks Lodge for family and friends.

Greene was born on July 29, 1952, in Albuquerque, to Herman Plave and Evelyn Cox. She married Terry Greene on May 22, 1968, in Albuquerque. The couple lived briefly in Southern California but moved home in 1972 after a moderate earthquake shook the couple. They eventually settled in Lordsburg, where they raised their family. Debbie eventually founded Bookkeeping Plus in 2000, an accounting and tax service in Lordsburg.

Debbie was a devout Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Lordsburg. She was also a dedicated member of the Lordsburg Elks Lodge where she held various leadership positions, an avid traveler, and she was a proud mother and grandmother.

She was also dedicated to serving the community; she served on the local literacy council, and she and her daughters undertook a massive renovation project of the former Vendome Hotel on Motel Drive in Lordsburg.

Debbie is survived by her daughters, Glenda Greene and Brenda Hood, both of Lordsburg; granddaughter Brittany Gregston, and husband Larry, of Dexter; son-in-law Tommy Hood and daughter-in-law Maria Sanchez of Lordsburg; mother-in-law Mildred Chappell, of Albuquerque; brother- and sister-in-law Cheryl and Mitch Rendace; Bradley Hood, Tomrie Hood, Sabree, and Weston Hood, all of Las Cruces; Jessica Sanchez, Chris Sanchez, and Lala Martinez, all of Lordsburg.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Randall, on July 22, 1997, and her husband, Terry, on January 14, 2013.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Erikson, Ben Erikson, Alan Strain, Gary Corbell, Lou Montenegro, and Rudy Chavez.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to donate to the Elks National Foundation philanthropic organization through the local Elks Lodge #1813 of Lordsburg.
