Robert L. Firestone, 92, residing in North Liberty, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 in his home. He was born January 5, 1928 in Mishawaka to the late Elizabeth (Seggerman) and Wilbur Firestone and has remained a lifelong area resident. On February 21, 1948 in South Bend, Robert married Hildegarde Kotal, who preceded him in death in April of 2014.

Robert is survived by his four daughters: Nancy Jo Deneve of South Bend, Marilyn Sue Burger of St. Charles, MO, Gloria Kay Firestone of North Liberty and Diana Lou (John) Neidlinger of Walkerton; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to Hildegarde, Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Gene and Dick, and his sister Doris.

Robert finished his career working as a Park Ranger at Bendix Woods County Park for 17 years before retiring. Robert was also an avid square dancer and was a square dancing caller.

Inurnment will occur at Westlawn Cemetery, at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – North Liberty Chapel 202 North Main Street, North Liberty is assisting the family with arrangements.
