Louis was born May 9th, 1909 to John Henry McCormick and Sallie Eula (Taylor) McCormick in Puryear, Henry County Tennessee. Louis and his twin sister Lois lived in Henry County growing up and at the age of 16 Louis married his first wife Gay and they moved to Michigan. Louis and Gay had two children:

Franklin Wm 'Frank' McCormick 1936 - 1993
In 1946 Louis married Florence Anna (Donhiser) McCormick 1921 - 2017
and the couple had two more children.
Louis and Florence retired to Broward County Florida in the late 1960's and remained there
for the rest of his years. After his death in 1991, Florence moved to Maricopa County Arizona
where she remained until 2017 when she passed away at the age of 96

Per Louis' request, his ashes were released in the Atlantic ocean in 1991, as were his wife of 49 years Florence Anna Donhiser McCormick upon her death in 2017
