“Ebby”, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Richard and Vallie Williams who preceded her in death.
Ebby graduated William Nottingham High School and attended Cazenovia College.
An accomplished visual and performance artist, Evelyn achieved great success as a featured vocalist and performed with multiple area bands, choirs and gospel musicians. Her watercolor works were featured in many art shows and competitions.
The ultimate measure of what a person was able to accomplish in life can often be found in what people say about them when they depart.
Ebby was loved by her children, Matthew (Stephanie Lee)Blackshear and Nicole(Nathaniel) Owens-Shawn; her stepchildren, Gregory Owens Jr, Micheal Owens, Ralph Blackshear III and Reshana Blackshear. In addition, Ebby has three grandchildren; Vance SamuelLee Blackshear, Zoe and Camoya Shaw, who will love her through the memories that are shared of her.
Evelyn is survived by her siblings, Veronica (Michael) Gerald of Lithonia, GA, Martin (Melissa) Williams of Savannah, GA, Cedric (Barbara) Williams of Forest Park, GA, Dacia Bolden of Loganville, GA, Cynthia(Willie) Freeman of Conyers, GA, Sheila(Anthony) Fair and Tara(Duane)Owens, both of Syracuse, New York.
Evelyn was supported and loved by a legion of “adopted sisters” who will cherish her forever. They are Kathie M.(Barry) Corker, Venita Chisholm, Cathy Moody and her dear friends, Carol Simpson and Rosalind Blue. Evelyn will also be celebrated, mourned and remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Evelyn was a faithful, proud woman of God. Her legacy is one of talent, courage, perseverance, faith and family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, February 1,2 020, at Living Water COGIC, 121 Huron St., Syracuse, NY.
