Mrs. Wood was born November 24, 1928 in Wilkes County to Thomas Jesse and Docia Scott Hayes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Wood Brendle; one sister; and seven brothers.
Survivors include: her husband of 73 years, Henry F. Wood of the home; sons, Kermit Wood and wife Mary of Elkin, Terry Wood and wife Becky of Jonesville.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
