Dec Sun Dec 27, 1965 Private funeral services for Arthur J. Coffey, prominent, Palm Springs contractor who died Saturday night at his home at 16.11 S. Calle Rolph, will be conducted tomorrow morning He was 47. Coffey's body was found in a bedroom at his home by members of his family about 7:45 p.m. Saturday. A report by Robert Drake, deputy county coroner at Indio, listed the death as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. I A resident of Palm Springs for 21 years. Coffey had been engaged in widespread contracting operations in the area. Among his projects here were the Coachella Valley Savings and Loan Assn, building at 499 S. Palm Canyon Drive and the law offices of Slaughter, Schlesinger and Schlecht. He specialized, however, in custombuilt residential dwellings. Coffee was a member of the city parks and recreation commission, a post he had held since January. 1961. He was a member of the Palm Springs Linns Club and the Palm Springs Club. He was born in McKinney County, Ky. I Surviving are his widow; Joan; two daughters, Nancy Coffey and Shelby Coffey, both of Palm Springs, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs Arthur D Coffey of Ashville, N.C. Private services will be conducted at 11 a m. tomorrow at the Palm Springs Community Church by the Rev. James H Rlackstone Jr., pastor. Burial will be in Desert Memorial Park Cemetery with Wiefels 41 Son Mortuary in charge. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the charity of Itheir choice.
