Robert L. Snider, 95, of Waverly died January 24, 2020 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1924 in Wood County and was the son of the late James A. and Alice Criss Snider.

He was a US WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corp as a radio control tower operator. After the service, Robert became a bricklayer and stonemason by trade, becoming owner of R.L. Snider Masonry, which later became R.L. Snider & Sons when his son joined him. They then constructed log and timber frame homes for over several years. He was a licensed pilot, owning his own private plane and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Robert is survived by one daughter, Joyce Snider Hickman; one son, Robert R. (Diana) Snider; three grandchildren, Bernie (Mary Ann) Dunlap, Amy (Eddie Horton) Snider, Zac (Autumn Wyatt) Snider; four great grandsons, Robert T. (Chelsea) Dunlap, Cole Parker, Jackson Whited, Mason Dunlap; and one sister, Geraldine Lewis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dortha Nuzum Snider; second wife, Frances Carmichael Thorn; granddaughter, Lisa Ann Dunlap; three brothers, Johnny, Harry and James Snider.

Funeral services will be Thursday 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Jerry Murphy as celebrant. Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with military rites by the American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-7 pm and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
