Anita was born July 19, 1968 in Raleigh, NC to the late Virgil Blackledge Harper and Kathryn Olivia Smith Harper. She proudly grew up in Deep Run, NC, and graduated from South Lenoir High School in 1986. She went on to earn a BA in Psychology from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. Anita later served as a social worker for DSS of Richmond County, and transitioned to serve at The Cannon Foundation, Inc. in Concord from 1996 to present day.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 27 years, John W. Johnson, her daughters Hannah and Katie, both of which want you to know that their "mom was great"; sisters, Stephanie Wade and husband Mickey, Tracie Barnhart and husband Steve, Annette Jones and husband Chris; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, January 31, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, as well as from 11:00am to 11:45am on Saturday, February 1st at Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord (http://www.parkwoodbaptist.com/location), with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Burial will take place at the West Concord Cemetery.
