Sue Lynelle (Childs) Hart went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 14th, 2007. She was 81. She was born and raised on her family farm in Samson, Alabama. She graduated from Geneva County High School in 1943 and moved to Panama City to work with her oldest sister Cleo a few years later. Here she met her husband John, who was stationed at the (then) Mine Countermeasures Station (now NCSC), and with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage in March 2007. Together they moved frequently wherever the Navy sent them, around the country and across the world to Japan for three years. They came full circle when he retired from active duty and took a civilian post at NCSC in 1965. They also raised and educated 4 children together through the ups and downs of Navy life. Sue was active in the Navy Wives Club, the Panama City Woman's Club, and worked with the Council on Aging delivering Meals on Wheels, but her true joy was serving at Forest Park United Methodist Church. She was usually there whenever the doors were open. She was an active member of many church boards and committees, sang in the choir, participated in the UMW, volunteered with the youth ministry, and faithfully attended the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School class. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was dearly loved, and she will be greatly missed. Sue was preceded in death by her son Stephen Dale Hart. She is survived by her loving husband John, her son Kenneth and his wife Jenny, her daughter Margie Goshert and her husband Phil, her daughter Melissa Gregg and her husband Steven; grandchildren Hope Parsons and husband Wes, Corrie Church and husband Ian, Katherine Hart, Mitchell Goshert, Christian, Samuel and Joseph Gregg; 3 sisters, Cleo Childs Carr, Gladys Childs Daughtry, and Glennie Childs Hambrick and husband Jack, one brother Rex Childs and wife Doris, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, October 19 at 2 pm at Forest Park United Methodist Church, with graveside to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Forest Park UMC Building Fund, 1401 W. 23rd Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
