76, formerly of Chagrin Falls and recently, Hiram, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday January 19th, 2020. Gary, a graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, was an accomplished hunter jumper in Aiken, SC and Gates Mills, Ohio. He served much of his career in Sales and Marketing for various companies where he had a passion for the gift of gab. He redefined the essence of a minute to mean an hour as he enjoyed talking about experiences and our family history. Even in his last months, he was always quick with a witty comment and a joke. During his later years, he worked with his father, Fred Watkins, who was an accomplished horse trainer and owned racehorses that ran at Thistledown. Gary is survived by his wife, Luz Watkins; his sons, John, David and Chris Watkins; his step-children; his grandchildren, Ashley, Evan and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews including Alison, his favorite niece. Gary's wishes are to have a graveside service, which will be held on Friday, January 24th at 11:00 am. He will be buried with his parents, Fred and June Watkins, at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Chagrin Falls Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
