Larry Vern Walters, age 78, of Lake Crystal died unexpectedly, Friday, January 17, 2020 in Meza, AZ.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Family interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Larry was born December 15, 1941 to Vern and Audrey S. (Jones) Walters in Lake Crystal. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1960. Larry was united in marriage to Sara J. Drake on June 27, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Madelia. After marriage Larry and Sara lived in New Ulm where he was employed by 3M for 10 years. They then moved to Lake Crystal and Larry worked for the Lake Crystal National Bank for several years. Larry started farming in 1977 and also sold seed corn for many years, presently for Renk Seeds. Larry enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, spending time at the lake, and winters in Arizona since 1991.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sara; two children, Mark (Dina) Walters of Lake Crystal, Christine O'Keefe of England; eight grandchildren, Reagan, Andrew, Jared, Harlen, Anja, Sage, Tkya, and Oliver; brother, Dennis (Nancy) Walters of Lake Crystal; two sisters, Sharon Laingen of Trego, WI and Pat (Richard) Hanson of Ashville, NC; uncle, Herb Jones of Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, Earle Drake of Lanham, MD; many, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve; brother-in-law, Dennis Laingen; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Drake.
