Mrs. E. J. Hambey. [includes a portrait]

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Hambey [nee Wimmer]. 81, lifelong resident of California, died yesterday at her home following a long illness. She was a native of Escondido, born June 8, 1885 to pioneer residents Robert Ira and Nora Taylor Wimmer, also natives of this state.

Mrs. Hambey moved to the Soledad Community in 1902. She was widow of Richard T. Hambey, who died in November of 1960.

Surviving are two sons. Richard Hambey III of Watsonville and Tom Hambey, Soledad: three daughters, Mrs. Beth Gibson, Sacramento; Mrs. Susie Holmes, Roseville, and Mrs. Alice Aaore, San Jose; a brother, James Wimmer, San Miguel; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Etta Case, Maricopa and Mrs. Alice Nyland, Alameda, eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Fraternally Mrs Hambey was a charter member of Mission Bell parlor No. 316, Native Daughters of the Golden West of Soledad.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the family residence, 17 Hambey Lane, Watsonville. The Rev. J. William Bowles, Soledad Community Methodist Church will officiate there and burial in the Hambey Cemetery on San Miguel Canyon Road. Terry Mortuary of Soledad is in charge of arrangements."
