WILLIAM LIEFLANDER

William C. Lieflander, 92, formerly of Route 1, North Fond du Lac, died Sunday, July 22, 1984, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, where he resided for the past two months.

He was born Jan. 28, 1892, in the Town of Forest, to August and Margrette Damman Lieflander. He married Emma Dussel on March 12, 1912, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and she died Jan. 15, 1972.

Mr. Lieflander was employed by the Soo Line Railroad. The couple resided in Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac until 1938, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he served as chief engineer of the Power House for the Soo Line Railroad.

He was employed by the Soo Line Railroad for 52 years, retiring July 31, 1961, and returning to North Fond du Lac. He was secretary and treasurer of the Fond du Lac Electricians Union for approximately 20 years.

Mr. Lieflander was a member of National Council of Senior Citizens, American Association of Retired Persons, American Railway Supervisors Association and Veteran Employees Association of the Soo Line Railroad.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marguerite) Lange of Fond du Lac and Mrs. August (Alice) Kaiser of North Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac, where he was a member. Pastor Bernard Kuschel will officiate, and burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.

Friends of Mr. Lieflander may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
