The son of Charles and Martha G. (Lufkin) Brown of Scituate, MA.
Wilbur was a 16-year-old Scituate, MA farmer when he was mustered on July 20, 1864 as a Private in Co. D of the 42nd Massachusetts Infantry. His regiment was mustered out on Nov. 11, 1864 after expiration of their 100-day enlistments.
He married Jessie Annie Campbell, the daughter of Daniel and Annie, at Scituate on Sep. 27, 1883. They were parents to the following known children: Isabell M.G., born in 1884; J. Adeline, born in 1886; Aline W., born in 1890; and Annie M., born in 1892.
A member of the George W. Perry G.A.R. Post 31 in Scituate, the death certificate confirms that Wilber, who resided at 314 Saratoga St., East Boston and was employed as a “Ferry Gateman,” died of Chronic Myocarditis.
