Funeral service for Paul Vernon Lunsford, age 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo with the Rev. Don Brock will be officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Swansea, SC.
The family will greet friends Monday, January 27, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.
After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Paul went to his heavenly home on Friday, January 24, 2020. Paul was born on January 11, 1944, in Sandgap, KY. He was a son of the late Ray and Bessie Lunsford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his older sister Deloris Stamn and his younger sister Darlene Picklesimer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Sue Lunsford; daughters Lori (Jeffrey) Robinson, Tonya Dowd, and son John (Lindsay) Dowd; three grandchildren, Brittney Martin, Kaleigh Robinson and Colton Dowd. He is also survived by five brothers and five sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law along with many dear friends.
Paul was a devoted husband and father and a long time business owner of S & S Automotive in Irmo. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. Prior to relocating to Irmo in 1986, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #147 in Dayton, OH.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of NHC Parklane and Abbey Road Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown throughout Paul’s battle.
