Donna Jean (Abernathey) Powell, 86, New Whiteland, passed away on January 24, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. Born on June 25, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Maurice F. and Blanche Mae Abernathey, she was a 1951 graduate of Emmerich Emmanuel High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Tri-Mi Ready Mix Concrete. She cherished time with her family. One of her favorite past times was sitting on the front porch with her dogs Lucy and Daphne. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She was a former member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Alpha Gamma Chapter Sorority.

Survivors include her children, Gail A. (Mike) Day, Deanna J. Powell, and William Brian (Carolyn) Powell; daughter in law, Rebbecca Powell; seven grandchildren, Carrie, Heather, Matthew, Justin, Leslie, Jennifer, Jacob, 14 great grandchildren, Slater, Devin, Josh, Hunter, Madison, Chastin, Kaleb, Kaley, Trinity, Mercy, Eternity, Elijah, Cayden, Easton and two great great grandsons, Liam and Landon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years William M. Powell in 2008; son, Zane B. Powell in 2019 and one brother, Russell Abernathey.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at THe Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery. The funeral will be conducted at Wednesday, January 29 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
