Elaine Margaret Cook, 68, of Camillus, passed away Thursday after a courageous four-year battle with lung cancer. Elaine was a lifetime resident of Amboy (Camillus) and graduated from West Genesee High School. She was employed with GTE Products Corp. and retired in the mid-1980s. Elaine was a lifetime member of the Amboy Belle Isle United Church, affectionately known as the "coleslaw lady." She loved playing the piano, gardening and camping in the Adirondacks. Surviving are her husband, Gary; sister, Janet (Paul) Huysman of Fabius; brothers, Ron (Sandy) Banks of Marcellus and Frederick (Gail) Banks of Nedrow; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, August 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Tuesday, August 6 at 11 a.m. in Amboy Belle Isle United Church. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Amboy Belle Isle United Church, 6190 Airport Rd., Syracuse, NY 13209.
