Joy Mae Oliver, age 75 passed away Friday January 24, 2020 at her home.

She was born April 28, 1944 in Chester County, the daughter of the late George Atlas Newman, Sr. and Gladys Mae Akin Newman. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1962. She married the love of her life, Aubrey ‘Pud’ Oliver and they made their home in the Montezuma Community. She was known for loving and babysitting children throughout their school years. She worked at Salant & Salant and later began working in the Chester County School System in the early 80’s. She worked at Chester County High School, East Chester Elementary and then Chester County Middle School until she retired. Throughout her career, she served in various roles such as a teacher’s aide, school cashier and office secretary. She also worked in ticket sales at county-wide athletic events. She was known by many and had a special gift to make everyone feel important and loved.
She was a part of Cave Springs Baptist Church all of her life and had been a member there for over 60 years. Within the church, she could be found serving food and helping with Vacation Bible School, attending and participating in all events, and worshipping the Lord by singing to Him every chance she could.

Mrs. Joy is survived by her husband, Aubrey Lee “Pud” Oliver, Jr. of Henderson; four sons, Terry Oliver (Patricia) of Selmer, Jeremy Oliver (Tanya) of Henderson, Craig Oliver (Buffy) of Scotts Hill and Greg Oliver of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Dillon, Blake, Ty, Haley, Sarah, Tana and Camper; two brothers, George Newman, Jr. of Henderson and Guy Newman (Sherry) of Henderson and a twin sister, Joyce Rae Beshires of Henderson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Faye Newman.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, January 26th, 2020 at Cave Springs Cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Geary, Sr. and Randle Fenimore officiating.
