Jerry, the son of Rex Ervin and Madge Marie (Copeland) Chandler, was born on July 31, 1942, in Nevinville, Iowa.

He graduated from Mingo High School and took courses to obtain his Realtor's license. He was also a licensed welder. Jerry worked as a realtor with Century 21 Real Estate for 20 years. He had worked as a welder at The Parsons Company, drove truck for Bisom Truck Line, and had worked for Dodd and Sons.

He was a member of the National Board of Realtors, Newton Board of Realtors, Pheasants Forever, and The Pony Express. Jerry loved playing softball, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, hunting, fishing, and telling stories. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the love and pride he had for his son and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry Lee Chandler, Jr. of Newton; grandchildren; stepchildren; son-in-law, Dennis Glenn; his sister, Barb Lemonds; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Dianna Lynn Glenn; brother, Walt Chandler; and friend, Sheila Kearns [Sheila's obituary stated she was engaged to Jerry.]
