Dolores May Simmons Jenkins, 84, of Port Orange, formally of Northern Virginia, originally born in Washington , D.C. met our Heavenly Father March 22, 2016. She passed away peacefully at the Halifax Health Hospice Center of Port Orange. We are grateful for the care she received at Halifax Medical Center and Hospice of Port Orange. Dee was a homemaker, Quilter, Gardner, loving Wife, Mother , Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and Friend. Dee was everyone's grandma. She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Johnnie Edward Jenkins, Sr., her sister Ruth Gladstone of Maryland, her brother William Reeves of California. She is preceded in death by her brother Robert Simmons of Maryland. She is also survived by Debra Ann Jenkins Boehm (daughter) and Tom Boehm(son-in-law), Johnnie Edward Jenkins, Jr.(son) and Gayle Katz Jenkins(daughter-in-law), Elizabeth Jenkins Endicott (daughter) , Raymond Robert Jenkins (son). Grandchildren: Mary-Beth Carr, Joshua Jenkins, Jake Jenkins and Jessica Beard. Great Grand child Barrett Ryker Frisby, countless nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors. Dee loved life and wanted everyone to be happy and to be safe, be true to yourself, and never live in the past. A Celebration of Life service for Dee will be Saturday, March 26th at 1:00p.m. in the Halifax Room Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Port Orange Chapel.
