He served in Battery C, 419th Field Artillery Battalion, 10th Armored Division, 3rd Army, in World War II, under General George S. Patton, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nell Catheree Johns; son, Ralph Johns; two great grandchildren, Luke Porter, Elizabeth Acton; three brothers, Luther Delton Johns, Robert Guy Johns, Laurel Clyde Johns; four sisters, Agnes Hawkins, Susie Irene Bennefield, Mazene Campbell, Willodean Brewer; and step-son, Frankie Hardin. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, four sons, two daughters and many other relatives.
