Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late Harold and Clarice Smith Burdette.
Mr. Burdette was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. His love of planes led him to join the Civil Air Patrol with his son. He was a professional truck driver for 52 years with an excellent safety record.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna Abbott and husband, Mike; son, James Burdette and wife, Kristen; granddaughter, Lauren Smith and husband, Scott; grandsons, David Shockley, and James Shockley.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Burdette; and brother, William Burdette.
Burial in the Simpsonville Municipal City Cemetery.
