Margaret Stark was the daughter of Aaron Stark (FAG90267246) and Sarah Fish (FAG90267528, 1620-1685). In 1675 she married John Fish, Jr. (FAG23225200, 1650-1705) and in 1682 her sister Sarah (FAG67238379, 1660-1722) married John’s brother, Captain Samuel Fish (FAG28223832, 1656-1733). On 18APR1695, their son David and daughter Margaret were jointly baptized at the Stonington church. Son David (FAG20184960) married Grace Palmer and their sons Jason and Titus moved to Cayuga Co., NY). Daughter Margaret married Gideon Cobb, and her memorial page (FAG11527624) states that her mother Margaret remarried Sgt. Samuel Cleveland of Canterbury, Windam Co., CT. That's where another son of Margaret and John, Captain JOHN Fish (FAG11527819), was born in 1696. In 1726 Capt. John married Esther Johnson (FAG11527811, 1707-1793). They were living in the New London/Groton, CT area where, on 06SEP1781, Benedict Arnold led British troops in an infamous assault.

Margaret's father, Aaron Stark, served under Captain Mason in the "war" with the Pequot Indians. A Pequot Indian village on Mystic Hill (near the present Groton, CT) was nearly annihilated in May 1637. Several hundred men, women, and children perished after their village was set fire in an early morning surprise attack. Many Pequots were sold as slaves, and Mohawk Indians killed Pequot Chief Sassacus after he fled to their village. Aaron later settled on Mystic Hill, where the Indian village had stood. He was a member of the Church of England, and meetings were held at his house. He died in 1685, at the age of 77 years.
