David R. Ransom was born in 1841. He served the South during the War For Southern Independence, fighting as a 1st Sergeant in Company L of the 45th Tennessee Infantry. He died in 1912. Rest in peace, sir.

D.R. Ransom, one of Boone county's oldest and most respected citizens, who has been failing in health for several months, died Wednesday at his old home four miles east of Harrison, aged 71 years. He was an ex-Confederate soldier and was at one time editor of a paper at Bellefonte.
