Norman E. Flaum July 23, 2007
Norman E. Flaum, 78, of Chittenango, died Monday, July 23rd, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica. Mr. Flaum was employed by the U. S. Postal Service in Syracuse as a letter carrier and head of security until his retirement in 1994. He then worked as a courier for Smith and Sovik thru 1995. Norman was a World War II Army veteran serving in Japan and re-enlisted with the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Flaum was a member the American Legion Post-Chittenango, Korean War Veterans, and Onondaga Post 131 Jewish War Veterans. Norm was an avid sports fan, a loving husband, devoted father, and a wonderful grandfather who enjoyed many of his grandchildren's events. He was predeceased in 1998 by his daughter Elaine Flaum.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sonya Flaum, and sons; Martin J. (Margaret) Flaum and Howard S. Flaum, and four grandchildren; Martin J. II, John-Norman, Steven Craig, and Emily Lynn Flaum.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 26th, 2007, at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may call on the family, at the chapel, on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
