Larry Jackson Cooper, 78, of Fort Gibson, was born March 14, 1941 in Fort Gibson, OK to Robert Jackson and Anna Lucille (Smith) Cooper and peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Fort Gibson, OK.

Larry, also known as “Big Larry” received his formal education at Fort Gibson Schools. He met and later married the love of his life, Helen O’Laughlin on December 8, 1958 in Wagoner, OK. Larry was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Gibson, OK.
He worked for over 40 years as a superintendent with Empire Roofing of Tulsa, Oklahoma, roofing all the tall buildings in downtown Tulsa and surrounding areas. He previously worked for Cook’s Roofing in Fort Gibson. Larry loved his family, fishing, teasing his grandkids and chocolate.

Larry is lovingly survived by his wife Helen of the home; sons, Larry Dale Cooper and wife Debbie of Fort Gibson, Steve Cooper and wife Carla of Fort Gibson, and Robbie Cooper and wife Shelly of Westville, OK; daughter, Kelley Larson of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Valerie and Chad Benham, Stephanie and Justin Cole, Duane and Alisha Cooper, Rebecca and Matt Laney, Heather and Mike Childress, Amber and John Vafeas, Ashley and Terry Scott, Stevie Cooper and Brian Hackett, Elizabeth and Jackson Dale, Erin and Justin Young, Emily and Josh Doughty, Elise and Eric Clarke, Jake and Kaycee Cooper; 28 great grandkids, extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lou Brown and Jackie Smith; brothers, Phillip Cooper and Ronnie Cooper; special friends, Arkie England, Mike Stegall, James Staton and Arvel Hammack.
Family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, January 27, 2020, from 5p.m.-7p.m. at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson.
A service Celebrating Larry’s life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Gibson with Pastor Tommy Honeycutt officiating.

Committal prayers and interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK with grandsons, Duane, Jake, Cole, Cayden, Justin, Chad, Matt, John, and nephew Zack will serve as casket bearers.
James Cooper, Jerry Cooper, Mike Cooper, Mike Childress, Tom Coleman, Terry Scott and Brian Hackett will serve as honorary casket bearers.
