Ernest graduated from Union College in Barbourville and taught Chemistry, Science and Biology at Knox Central for twenty-two years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Bennett, one son, Ernie Joe Bennett, two brothers, Justus Bennett and J. Edward Bennett and his daughter’s mother Janet Whiting.
Ernest is survived by his daughter Andria Bennett of Syracuse, New York, one sister Ruby Jean Bennett Smith of Corbin, Kentucky, one brother Ralph Bennett of Jacksboro, Tennessee and Wendell Smith who he raised as a son. He also leaves behind special friends Brenda Bryant, Valerie Lynn, Doris Bennett and Bill Howard along with a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Bennett will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Vaughn and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Croley Cemetery at Bryant Store. Pallbearers will be Mark Bennett, Trevor Bennett, James Runyon and other family & friends. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
