Albert Clark Atnip, aged 98, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 in Salinas, California. Albert (Al), originally from Gilroy, California, was a longtime Salinas and Monterey, California resident.

He was employed with AT&T and Pacific Bell in Salinas and Monterey for 35 years, retiring in 1983 as a construction supervisor. Albert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II as an infantryman. He served with the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade and participated in the liberation of Pacific Islands (including the freeing of Guam) from Japanese occupation. After the war, Albert returned home to Salinas and met the love of his life Doris. They were married for 47 years. Doris died in 1993.

Albert will be remembered as a humble, kind and considerate man with a good sense of humor who did not take himself too seriously. Semper Fi Al. RIP. (Al requested a private burial service.
