He attended school in Lakeview, Arkansas and Oneida, Arkansas. He worked closely with Roosevelt Johnson where he learned carpentry and later obtained his license in carpentry at Crowley’s Ridge in Forrest City. He built and repaired many homes in the area and also the Merchant and Farmers Bank in West Helena. He also worked at Chicago Mill and Mohawk Tire and Rubber Co. but his true love was carpentry which he did for over sixty years.
Elton was baptized at an early age and served as a deacon, treasurer, and officer of First Baptist, Barton for over fifty years until his health failed.
Elton enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in his workshop and his carpentry work. He had a quiet nature and was always willing to help anyone.
Elton was united in holy matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Elnora Johnson on July 31, 1949. She was sixteen and he was seventeen. To this union six children were born.
Elton departed this life on October 10, 2019 at the home he built for his family, surrounded by his loving wife, who never left his side and many other family members.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents and adopted parents; two brothers, George Robinson Bey and Edward Williams; a sister, Arline Mobley. He was also preceded in death by five children, Robert Lee, Frank, Jimmie, Efren, and Sarah.
Elton leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Elnora Williams of over seventy years; three sons, Dennis Williams, Terrance Williams, and Robert Williams; four daughters, Patricia(Bennie)Redmond, Margaret(Albert)Funches, Monique(Izah)Broadus and Latonya(Russell)Supernon; four sisters, Cornelia(Harry) Durham,Christine(Caliph)Wyatt, Earnestine Hunter, and Earline Smith, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Williams; thirty-eight grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, a host of other family members, nieces, nephews, and friends.
