Longview, WA - Roger Curtis Albin Age 67 of Longview died on March 25-2005 at St John Medical Center. He was born on September 23, 1937, in Norton County, Kansas at the farmhouse of his Aunt Gladys and Uncle Albert Applegate. Son of Lowell E and Phyllis G. (Abernathy) Albin.
As a child, Roger's family moved to California in 1940, He was raised in Escalon, Ca. Roger graduated from Escalon Union High Scchool in 1955.
In the Spring of 1955, the family moved to the Columbia Basin and homesteaded a farm unit in block 16 of The Bureau of Reclamation Project. Roger helped his father clear and level the farm for irrigation farming. During that time he went to college and was a charter student of Columbia Basin College.
Roger started his 40-year career with a young company, Cascade Natural Gas. He started as a meter reader in 1961 in the Tri Cities area. He advanced through the company working in Yakima, then Aberdeen before advancing to District Manager of the Longview District where he retired as special project manager for the company in 2001.
Roger married Helen Marie Knopf on July 4, 1959.
Roger served on the Washington Underground utilities Coordinating Council for many years. He was a member and past President of the Longview Pioneer Lyons Club. He served on the Longview Public Library board and Library Foundation. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church.
Roger was an avid reader and family historian; he enjoyed fishing and taking trips with family and friends. Roger is survived by his wife, Helen at home, son Scott Curtis Albin, Glendale, Arizona, daughter Kim Marie Leonard, Yakima, Washington, brother Arlen Albin, Pasco, Washington, sister Karla Griffin, Spokane, Washington, Mother Phyllis Albin, Pasco, Washington, and 6 grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, and his sister Karen Petty.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday; March 29, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Kelso First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Henre Officiating.
Viewing will be from 10-1 on Tuesday at Dahl McVicker Funeral Home.
Iterment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, Wa. on thursday, March 31, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev Leon alden officiating.
