Born August 1, 1923, in Grantsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cynthia (Snyder) Beitzel, the ninth of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Sherman E. Bittinger.
Mrs. Bittinger moved to Akron, OH, in 1944, where her husband, Sherman, started a job at B.F. Goodrich. She was a member of the Kenmore Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school to first graders for over 35 years. She loved God, Jesus and her family; she was a devoted wife, mom, grandma “Magy” and great-grandma.
She is survived by one son, Gerald (Sheryl) Bittinger, Barberton; one daughter, Michele (Joe) Massaro, Norton; six grandchildren, Alan (Sarah) Bittinger, Barberton; Amy (David) Kaser, Wadsworth; Kevin Bittinger, Brooksville, FL; Megan (Jeremy) Latchic, Seville; Matthew (Cassandra) Massaro, Doylestown; and Michael (Chelsea) Massaro, Norton; 13 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jaren and Molly Bittinger, Barberton; Natalyn and Ariana Kaser, Wadsworth; Drew and Tripp Bittinger, Brooksville; Grady, Luke and Carter Latchic, Seville; Sydney Massaro, Norton; and identical twin girls due in March, Meredith and Norah Massaro, Doylestown; one sister, Hollie (Bill) Fazenbaker, Westernport, MD; one sister-in-law, Mary Beitzel, Grantsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery.
