Mavis Dunn Smith passed away on January 19, 2020. She was born on November 15, 1941 in Fernwood, Mississippi. Mavis attended business school in Baton Rouge, LA. She married Pastor Don Smith in Fernwood, MS in 1960. Mavis worked in the legal field most of her life. She retired in 2019 from Ben Holley Law Firm in Crestview, Florida where she worked for 39 years. Mavis’ passion was serving Jesus. As a pastor’s wife Mavis served in the church as a Sunday School teacher, playing the piano for worship services and women’s ministry. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Willie and Eva Nell Dunn; her brother, Ray Dunn; and sister, Bobbie Freeman.

Mavis is survived by her husband of 59 years, Pastor Don Smith; two daughters and two son-in-laws, Dawn Chunn and husband Scott of Crawfordville, FL and Shannon Gustin and husband John of Baker, FL; three brothers, Buster and Ruth Dunn, Thomas Dunn, and Douglas and Pat Dunn; three grandchildren, Austin youngblood and wife Liz, Jonathon Chunn and wife Mikayla, and Shiana Youngblood; and one great-grandchild, Ryker Youngblood.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Baker, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am also at Pilgrim Rest Church, with burial to follow at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
