James Dalton Command, Sr., age 85, of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014.
Jim was inducted in the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and was a major league baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula.
He is survived by his children, James, Jr. (Kathy), Michael (Valarie), Judy Command, Paul (Mary), Ted (Irene), Tim (Marcia), Meredith (Tracy) Daniel; grandchildren, Katie (Dustin), Kori (John), Sean, Adam, Andrea, Madeline, Lauren, Haley, Dan (Sam), Stephanie, Maggie, Alissa (Zach), Alex, Max, Tyler, and Dalton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at St. Alphonsus, 224 Carrier St. NE Grand Rapids. Rev. Pat Grile C.Ss.R presiding. Visitation Friday at O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. SE Grand Rapids and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Food and Clothing Center, 224 Carrier St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
