"JOHN F. HELMS
John F. Helms, 71, 818 N. Division street, died at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon after a year's illness.
He was born Dec. 12, 1872, in the town of Harrison and lived in Appleton for 32 years, operating a grocery store at Wisconsin avenue and Bennett street from 1927 to 1935. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church.
Survivors are the wife; five sons, Ervin and Harvey, Appleton; Private Harold, Los Angeles, Calif.; Private Elmer, Portland, Maine; and Private Robert, Fort Benning, Ga.; one brother, Richard, Marion; one sister, Mrs. Albert Piehl, Clintonville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul Lutheran church, with the Rev. F.M. Brandt in charge. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Wichmann Funeral home from this afternoon until 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and then at the church."
