Mrs. Linda Kennedy Garland, age 78, of Fairmount, went to her heavenly home Monday, December 23, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born in Cartersville, GA on January 9, 1941, daughter of the late Michael Kennedy and Caron Bryant Kennedy. Mrs. Garland was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved singing gospel music, starting at a young age with her sisters, Janice and Sandra as the Kennedy Sisters. Then over the years she sang with several trios and quartets. Mrs. Garland had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others, she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Danny Garland of Fairmount; daughters, Gayle and Sol Collum and Joy and Eric Abernathy; grandchildren, Megan (Jody) Jamison, Danielle Abernathy, Ethan (Hannah) Abernathy, Caron (Jesse) Hopper, Mason (Shea) Collum, and Emily Abernathy; great-grand children, Aspen and Bristol Collum and Tate and Greyson Jamison; brothers, Lamar (Robin) Kennedy and Gary (Sherry) Kennedy; sisters, Janice Moore and Sandra Eller; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rydal with Reverends Tracy Collum and Dewey Atchley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Ethan Abernathy, Mason Collum, Jody Jamison, Jesse Hopper, Noah Johnson, and Andy Goss. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bramlett and Brian Adcock.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home
