Louis Aron Boyd, age 79, of Atlanta, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born November 16, 1940 to Virgil and Virgie Howard Boyd in Rusk County, Texas.

Louis served as a United States Marine during the Viet Nam conflict and later went on to successfully pursue both a Bachelors and Masters Degrees, but later chose carpentry as his trade. Louis had a great love for the Lord as well and pastored several churches over the years. He also had a heart for mission work and was able to travel to many places sharing the love of Jesus with many, but held a special place in his heart for the people of Zambia, Africa.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo Lum who was his high school sweetheart and the mother of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Judi Boyd of Atlanta, Texas; son, Mark A. Boyd and wife Beth of Atlanta, Texas; daughter Kerri Dawn Burgess and husband, Dean of Lindale, Texas and bonus daughter, Carrie Ann Grogan and husband David of Texarkana, Arkansas. Beloved grandchildren, Kathryn Boyd, Matthew Boyd and wife Taylor, Kristen Russell, bonus grandchildren Kylan Wilbeck, Autumn Barnes and husband Jacob, and Sara Thompson and a great granddaughter, Harper Boyd. Surviving siblings include Mary Jane Boyd of Friendswood, Texas, Susan Cowan and husband Bob of Carthage, Texas and Stephen Boyd and wife Gina of Henderson, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hanner Funeral Service in Atlanta, Texas.

His Celebration of Life will be Monday, January 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas with Pastor Ronnie Raines officiating. Pallbearers are Lou Morton, Jeremy (Gray) Morton, Brandon Boyd, Matthew Boyd, Boyce Whatley, Brian Whatley, and Brandon Whatley.

Interment will be at Kildare Cemetery, Kildare, Texas.
